Sikhism is by far the youngest religion in the world. However, surprisingly, it is the fifth largest in the number of followers. The followers of Sikhism call themselves Sikhs. The word Sikh means a disciple, and it is a good fit. Sikhs believe in one God and the teachings of the ten Gurus, which are enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book. The Sikh religion is strictly monotheistic, believing in One Supreme God. The description given for God is Absolute yet all pervading, The eternal, The Creator, The cause of causes, Without enmity, Without hate, Both immanent in His creation and beyond it. The basic postulate of Sikhism is that life is not sinful in its origin and thus God abides in it. The Sikhs do not recognize the caste system, nor do they believe in Idol - worship, rituals, or superstitions. Sikhism consists of practical living, rendering service to humanity, and engendering tolerance and brotherly love towards all. The Sikh Gurus did not advocate retirement from the world in order to attain salvation. It can be achieved by any one who earns an honest living and leads a normal life while being in the world. Sikhism started with birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 1469 and The Khalsa created by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699. In these 537 years, sikhs have endured through many tough times. But through these times sikhs served the Guru Sahiban and took blessings in the form of enlightenment. As a token of love Guru Ji gave their relics to the beloved and loyal sikhs of families of note like Bhai Roop Chand Ji, Bhai Bhagtu ji,Bhai Behlo Ji, ,Bhai Ganga Ram Ji, Bhai Bidhi chand ji, Bhai Dalla Ji etc besides to others. The motive of this gallery is to bring forward the photographs of such relics so that we may come closer to real history and people.
